Menopause in the Workplace

Menopause is a workplace issue, even when it is not named as one. Around one in three women in the European workforce is in or approaching menopause, yet most workplaces have no language, policy or culture for it. The result is silence: symptoms are managed in private, performance dips are explained away, and experienced women leave senior roles earlier than they need to. This is a loss for the women themselves and for the organisations that depend on their knowledge and judgement.

Her-Shift works with both individuals and organisations to change this. For women, coaching offers a confidential space to understand what is changing, to separate the physical from the situational, and to find practical strategies for energy, focus and confidence at work. The goal is not to push through, but to work with the transition rather than against it, protecting performance and wellbeing at the same time.

For organisations, the work begins with awareness. Many leaders are simply unaware of how symptoms such as sleep disruption, brain fog or anxiety can affect concentration and presence, and how small adjustments (flexible hours, temperature control, meeting structures) can make a measurable difference. Her-Shift offers talks and workshops that bring menopause into the open in a professional, non-sensational way, framed as part of a wider commitment to inclusion and retention.

Drawing on years of experience in Human Resources, Daniela Frauboes brings a perspective that is both personal and organisational. She understands the legal and cultural dimensions of menopause at work, the reluctance to disclose, and the real cost of losing senior women at the height of their contribution. Sessions are available online and on-site in Brussels, in English, German and French, for individuals and for teams.
